Miikka Kiprusoff's Jersey Retirement Night
Calgary Flames to Honor Legendary Goaltender
Get Ready for a Special Ceremony on Saturday
Hockey fans in Calgary, get ready for a special night on Saturday! The Calgary Flames will retire the jersey number of legendary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. The ceremony will take place before the Flames game against the Edmonton Oilers at 5:30 PM.
Kiprusoff played 10 seasons with the Flames, leading the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004. He was a three-time Vezina Trophy finalist and won the award in 2006. Kiprusoff also represented Finland in international competition, winning a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Kiprusoff's jersey retirement is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest goaltenders in Flames history. He is now the fourth player in team history to have his jersey retired, joining Lanny McDonald, Al MacInnis, and Jarome Iginla.
