Early Life and Career

Steven John Carell was born on August 16, 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts. His father, Edwin A. Carell, was an electrical engineer, and his mother, Harriet Theresa (Koch), was a psychiatric nurse. Carell has two older brothers, Michael and John. Carell was raised in a Roman Catholic family. He attended Nashoba Brooks School, a private boarding school in Concord.

Carell began his career in show business as a member of the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he landed roles in small films and television shows. Carell's breakout role came in 2005, when he was cast as Michael Scott in 'The Office'. The show was a huge success, and Carell's performance earned him critical acclaim.
